Modification & Upgrading Technology of Major Technological Equipment
Since the establishment for 65 years, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has participated in the line laying & erection, curing of large mechanical routes, engineering transportation as well as long-rail welding of most domestic ordinary-speed railways, passenger dedicated lines & high-speed railways. It has also participated in such urban rail engineering in Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang, Hangzhou & other cities, building more than 33,000 bridges for the country & creating 6 national records including 6.1km rails per day per machine, 11 beams (16m) per day, 10 beams (24m) per day, 8 beams (32m) per day, 1.75km tunnel sleeper slab per day & 4.2km rail links per day. Since the 1970s, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has been devoting itself to the development of laying & erecting equipment & maintaining its leading position in China. It has successively developed Long March-I, II, IIA & III-160 bridge erection machines, single-guiding-beam road girder-erecting machines, 900t cross-tunnel girder-erecting machines, large-ramp girder-erecting machines as well as small-curve-radius girder-erecting machines, laying the foundation for the development of laying & erecting equipment in China.
Long March bridge erection machines continued to improve & upgrade. In the 1970s, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. began to develop special equipment for track laying to modernize such operations. In 1975, it independently developed the first Long March-I track laying machine & won the Quality Award of the National Science & Technology Conference. In 1983, in order to solve the problems of laying tracks under the contact system, Long March-II & Long March-IIA track layers were developed, winning the second prize of Scientific & Technological Progress of the Ministry of Railways. In 1990, in order to adapt to the requirements for the erection of prefabricated beams with a medium span of 40m & below, Long March III-160 bridge erection machine was developed. In 2002, it designed Long March-IV track layer. In 2010, it largely raised the operation efficiency of WZ500 track layer by improving equipment adaptability, which was successfully applied to Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway & won the second prize for the Scientific & Technological Progress of Shanxi Province. In 2015, in response to the continuous long ramp condition encountered by Chongqing-Wanzhou High-speed Railway for the first time, it used TCM60 track layers to lay 500m long rails on a 25‰ long ramp via equipment improvement, which greatly reduced the construction cost & filled the industry blank.
Girder-erecting equipment leads the industry trend. In 1995, it independently developed single-guiding-rail girder-erecting machine, realizing fully mechanized lateral movement of beams & one-time-completion technologies & making important breakthroughs in whole-machine-through-holes security & small-radius beam erection field, which was the first to appear in the development history of highway girder-erecting machine in China & won the first prize for science of Shanxi Construction Committee. In 2008, it independently developed the 900t cross-tunnel girder-erecting machine, successfully solving the difficulties in erecting large-tonnage prefabricated box girders in bridge-tunnel-connected sections of passenger dedicated lines. Particularly, under the special working conditions of short distance (minimum 7m) between an abutment & a tunnel portal, it can make a girder-erecting machine, without being disintegrated & using other lifting equipment, transported by a beam transporter to cross double-track tunnels, complete in-tunnel unloading independently & crawl to the first bridge & erect beams in low position inside the tunnel.

In 2011, it tackled the 900m-small-curve erection problem of 900t box girders of Hangzhou-Changsha High-Speed Railway & filled the gap of small-curve-beam erection field. In 2013, it solved the 30-inch-large-ramp transportation problem of Datong-Xi'an High-speed Railway & filled the technical gap, winning the second prize for Scientific & Technological Progress of Shanxi Province. In 2015, it modified & upgraded the all-in-one machine of 900t box girder transporting & erecting, which eliminated the temporary beam laying process of deck during the erecting by the existing mobile girder-erecting machine, avoided the risks of damaging the support beam's top slab by the temporary beam laying of the deck when alternatively erecting 24m & 32m beams, & successfully applied to the 900t box girder erection works in Yunnan Section of Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway.
The technical breakthroughs in track-laying & girder-erecting equipment have made the "three modes laying & erecting" a well-known brand in the domestic industry. The filling of "gaps" has made it the vanguard of the industry. From the original artificial laying to the modern large-scale advanced mechanical laying & erecting, China Railway No.3 Engineering Group Co., Ltd. has been at the forefront of the industry & has been contributing to the construction of the motherland.
